Bancroft Care Centre

Hospital-equivalent mental health care

Delivering multidisciplinary mental health support in a calm, community setting, helping people move forward with dignity and confidence.

How care is delivered

Bancroft Care Centre delivers hospital-equivalent mental health care in a calm, community based environment. Purpose-built for people with complex needs, Bancroft combines 24-hour nursing with on-site psychology, occupational therapy and regular psychiatric input, supported by a highly skilled multidisciplinary team.

The centre offers two distinct pathways under one roof. One provides long-term, high support care for individuals requiring consistent clinical input and structured stability. The other focuses on recovery and reablement, helping people rebuild skills, confidence and independence.

Advanced safety features, therapeutic spaces and modern digital systems support effective care while reducing restrictive practice. Together, these elements create a dignified, non-institutional setting where people feel safe, supported and empowered to progress.

Who we support

Bancroft Care Centre specialises in caring for adults aged 18 to 65 who:

  • Experience challenging behaviours linked to complex mental health diagnoses.
  • Require step down support from hospital but still need structured supervision in the community.
  • Have experienced repeated relapses and benefit from a stable, therapeutic environment.

Care is tailored to each individual, combining clinical expertise with practical skill building to support recovery, safety and longer term independence.

Your questions answered

Choosing the right mental health placement is a big decision. These answers explain how Bancroft works, who we support and how our approach helps people move forward safely and with dignity.

What makes Bancroft different?

Bancroft provides hospital-equivalent care within a community setting. Residents benefit from 24-hour nursing alongside psychology, occupational therapy and regular psychiatric input. The centre is purpose-built with advanced safety features and therapeutic spaces that reduce restrictive practice. Two pathways operate under one roof, offering both long-term clinical support and recovery-focused reablement. This integrated model helps stabilise complex needs while supporting people to rebuild skills and move toward greater independence.

Bancroft supports adults aged 18 to 65 with complex mental health needs, including challenging behaviours and repeated relapses. It is designed for individuals stepping down from hospital who still require structured supervision, as well as those needing longer-term clinical care. Each person follows a personalised pathway based on risk, recovery goals and functional ability. The environment and multidisciplinary input provide stability while supporting progress at an appropriate pace.

Care is delivered by a highly skilled multidisciplinary team. Registered mental health nurses provide 24-hour support, alongside on site occupational therapists and clinical psychologists. A consultant psychiatrist provides regular input to support treatment planning and medication reviews. This integrated model ensures physical, emotional and functional needs are addressed together. External professionals, social workers and commissioners work closely with the team to maintain continuity and safe progression through care.

Recovery and reablement are central to Bancroft’s approach. Residents develop practical life skills through supported cooking, budgeting, laundry and community access. Staff assess readiness through structured observation and therapeutic engagement. Purpose-built training kitchens, independent living facilities and vocational opportunities help people rebuild confidence and routine. When appropriate, residents transition to less restrictive settings with carefully planned support, reducing the risk of relapse and promoting sustainable independence.
